Android seems to be making it big in the market. In 2009, about 9 Android based mobile phones were released in the market and 2010 is expecting at least 50 more Android devices – which is quite a number. Also, it is being said that in near future, if Android continues to remain popular among cell phone manufacturers, it may soon start leading the market and change the current trend. Presently, it is iPhone 3GS that has stolen the show, but Android may alter the trend.
One of the biggest supports Apple iPhones have is their App store which is remarkable in number of applications it houses. So if Android makes more Apps, will it win over Apple? Well, we do not know that but one sure news is that Android is making more App stores.
The two App stores already in the Android market are Google’s Android Market and Motorola’s SHOP4APPS store. But now Android is going to adding more App stores. The stores are going to be by Sony Ericsson and General Mobile. Sony Ericsson a little while ago announced about its new mobile phone Xperia10 which is in making. The Apps for Xperia10 can be sent by developers to Sony Ericsson. AppThe supposed name of the store by General Mobile is Stereoid.
The more number of Android App stores can cause a complete change in the market course which is dominated by Apple store. But this may take too long for Apple Apps store is not just huge in number of Applications it houses contains but also it is a one-stop App store. Where as Android App stores are spread all over, which can be not very effective. However, nothing can be asserted as og now. We will have to wait for yet another few months to analyze if there is only one runner in the race or this runner could be threatened by someone else. Till then let’s wait for some more news.
